Subject: The Unspoken Crisis in Australia’s Construction Industry

As many media outlets and industry veterans have pointed out, one of the most ridiculous and absurd realities in Australia is that homebuyers and those building their own homes with construction companies receive almost zero legal protection—far less than if you were buying a bicycle!

The root cause? Years of construction industry deregulation at both federal and state levels, compounded by bureaucratic inertia and a culture of inaction across all levels of government. These systemic issues have severely worsened corruption and the rampant corner-cutting practices within Australia’s construction sector.

Meanwhile, property developers and major construction firms have cultivated a vast network of lobbyists who wield deep and far-reaching influence over both federal and state politicians. Their grip on policymakers has further entrenched the toxic ‘all good’ culture, accelerating the erosion of Australia’s engineering and construction industry’s integrity and reputation.

If Australian homebuyers are ever to receive the full legal protection they rightfully deserve, we must push for a complete overhaul at all levels of government and legislative bodies. Corruption, inaction, and the ‘all good’ complacency must be eradicated—otherwise, the crisis will persist and escalate at an exponential rate.
